Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 8 tbsp canned pumpkin

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter: In a mixing bowl, crack the eggs and add the water and oil. Whisk these together until the mixture is well combined and slightly frothy to create a smooth base for your pancake batter.
  2. Add pumpkin: Stir in the canned pumpkin until it is evenly distributed throughout the egg mixture, ensuring a consistent batter.
  3. Incorporate dry ingredients: Mix in the all-purpose flour starting with 4 tablespoons, along with the ground cinnamon, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir until no streaks of flour remain. If the batter is too runny, gradually add more flour up to 1/3 cup to reach a thick consistency suitable for pancakes. Optionally, add a bit more cinnamon to enhance the fragrance.
  4. Cook pancakes: Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil. Pour small amounts of batter onto the skillet to form pancakes. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface, then carefully flip and cook until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Cool and serve: Once cooked, allow the pancakes to cool completely before serving to your dog. Optionally, top with chopped, cooked apples and a sprinkle of cinnamon, ensuring toppings are also cooled to a safe temperature. Taste a small portion yourself (without toppings) to confirm they are not too hot before sharing.

Notes

  • Ensure pancakes are fully cooled before serving to avoid burning your dog’s mouth.
  • Use canned pumpkin that is 100% pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling which contains added sugars and spices harmful to dogs.
  • Optional toppings like cooked apples should be given in moderation and always cooled.
  • If your dog has allergies or dietary restrictions, consult your vet before introducing new treats.
  • These pancakes are meant as occasional treats and should not replace a balanced diet.
