Ingredients

Scale

Biscuits

  • 1 can refrigerated flaky biscuits (8 count)

Filling

  • 3/4 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 3/4 cup lump crab meat
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Finishing

  • 1 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the Shrimp Crab Melts.
  2. Prepare Biscuits: Slightly flatten each of the 8 refrigerated flaky biscuits on a baking sheet to create a base for the filling.
  3. Make Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, shredded mozzarella cheese, softened cream cheese, Old Bay seasoning, and fresh chopped parsley. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  4. Assemble Melts: Spoon the seafood and cheese filling onto half of the flattened biscuits. Top each filled biscuit with one of the remaining biscuits. Pinch the edges together securely to seal the filling inside and press lightly to ensure they stick.
  5. Brush with Butter: Brush the tops of the sealed biscuit melts with the melted butter to help achieve a golden brown and flavorful crust during baking.
  6. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until the biscuit tops are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the melts from the oven and let them rest for 2 minutes to settle. Serve whole or slice as desired.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh lump crab meat and shrimp that are cooked and cooled before chopping.
  • If you don’t have Old Bay seasoning, a mix of paprika, celery salt, and a pinch of cayenne can be a good substitute.
  • Softened cream cheese should be at room temperature to blend smoothly with other ingredients.
  • These melts are best served warm but can be reheated in the oven to maintain crispness.
  • You can add a sprinkle of fresh lemon juice to the filling for a bright, zesty flavor.
