Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Mixture

  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 ounces cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 to 2 jalapeño peppers, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Turkey Burger Mixture

  • 2 lb ground turkey
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons finely minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cumin

Other Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 slices cooked bacon
  • Optional: lettuce wraps for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, grated cheddar, minced jalapeños, and garlic. Mash together thoroughly with a fork or spatula until well blended. Set aside.
  2. Mix Turkey: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, almond flour, minced onion, salt, black pepper, and cumin. Mix until fully incorporated and uniform in texture.
  3. Prepare Burger Press: Place a circle of parchment paper at the bottom of a burger press. Add turkey mixture filling the press halfway, then top with another parchment circle. Press down firmly to create a well in the center for the filling.
  4. Add Filling: Remove the top part of the press and parchment, spoon the cheese mixture into the well. Cover with remaining turkey mixture, then use the flat surface of the press to seal the edges, forming a stuffed patty.
  5. Repeat Process: Continue this process until all turkey and cheese mixture is used, yielding 6 to 7 stuffed burgers. Alternatively, form patties by hand with a well in the center for the filling, then seal edges carefully.
  6. Preheat Grill: Heat a grill to medium-high. Brush both sides of each burger with olive oil to prevent sticking and to enhance browning.
  7. Grill Burgers: Place the stuffed turkey patties on the grill. Cook for 7 to 8 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165ºF, ensuring they are fully cooked through.
  8. Serve: Top each burger with crispy bacon slices. Serve on lettuce wraps for a refreshing, low-carb option.

Notes

  • You can adjust the number of jalapeños based on your heat preference.
  • Ensure the burgers reach an internal temperature of 165ºF to guarantee safety.
  • Lettuce wraps make this dish gluten-free and low-carb.
  • Use cooked bacon for added crunch and flavor; cook it ahead of time.
  • The almond flour helps bind the turkey mixture while keeping it gluten-free.
  • If you don’t have a burger press, hand-forming the patties works just as well.
