This Halloween Buffalo Chicken Dip is a festive and flavorful appetizer featuring shredded chicken coated in spicy buffalo sauce, layered over creamy softened cream cheese, topped with mozzarella and ranch dressing, and decorated with fun ghost-shaped white cheese slices. Perfect for parties and gatherings, it combines spicy, creamy, and cheesy goodness for a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Buffalo Chicken Mixture

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie works great)
  • ½ cup buffalo sauce (adjust for spice level)

Base and Toppings

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup ranch dressing

Decorations

  • 68 slices white cheese (for ghosts)
  • Black decorating gel or mini olives for eyes

Instructions

  1. Mix Chicken with Buffalo Sauce: In a large bowl, toss the cooked shredded chicken with buffalo sauce until the chicken is evenly coated, ensuring the spicy flavor is well distributed.
  2. Prepare Cream Cheese Base: Soften the cream cheese by microwaving it for 15–20 seconds if necessary, then spread the softened cream cheese evenly onto the bottom of a baking dish to form the creamy base layer.
  3. Layer Buffalo Chicken Mixture: Spoon the buffalo chicken mixture over the cream cheese layer and smooth it out evenly. Drizzle the ranch dressing over the top to add a cool, tangy contrast.
  4. Create Ghost Decorations: Use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter to cut ghost shapes out of the white cheese slices. Arrange these ghost shapes evenly on top of the dip before baking.
  5. Bake the Dip: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the dip is bubbling and heated through.
  6. Add Eyes to Ghosts: Remove the dip from the oven and immediately use black decorating gel or mini olive pieces to dot eyes onto each ghost-shaped cheese piece, enhancing the fun Halloween theme. Serve the dip warm.

Notes

  • If you prefer a milder dip, reduce the amount of buffalo sauce or use a milder wing sauce.
  • For extra cheesy flavor, sprinkle additional shredded mozzarella over the top before baking.
  • Use a small spatula or spoon to carefully spread layers to avoid mixing flavors prematurely.
  • Serve with celery sticks, tortilla chips, or crackers for dipping.
  • Can be prepared ahead; assemble and refrigerate, then bake just before serving.
