Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef steak
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms

Seasonings and Oil

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Cheeses

  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the casserole.
  2. Heat Oil and Sauté Beef and Vegetables: In a skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil, then add the thinly sliced beef, green bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms. Cook until the beef is browned and the vegetables become tender, stirring occasionally.
  3. Season the Mixture: Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and black pepper over the cooked beef and vegetables. Stir well to evenly distribute the seasonings.
  4. Transfer to Baking Dish: Move the cooked and seasoned mixture from the skillet into a baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Add Cheese Toppings: Evenly sprinkle 2 cups of shredded provolone cheese and 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the beef and vegetable mixture.
  6. Bake the Casserole: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden on top.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your warm, cheesy Cheesesteak Casserole!

Notes

  • Thinly sliced beef can be substituted with ground beef or thinly sliced ribeye for authentic flavor.
  • Feel free to add extra vegetables such as sliced jalapeños or tomatoes to customize the casserole.
  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the skillet while cooking.
  • Use low-fat cheeses for a lighter version of this dish.
  • Ensure to slice the vegetables thinly for even cooking with the beef.
  • This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking; just add a couple of extra minutes to the bake time if baking from cold.
