A succulent and flavorful Cranberry Orange Glazed Turkey Breast featuring a tangy homemade cranberry-orange glaze, infused with fresh herbs and garlic, perfect for festive dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Turkey

  • 1 (3-4 lb) turkey breast, bone-in and skin-on
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Glaze

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even roasting temperatures for the turkey breast.
  2. Prepare Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine fresh cranberries, orange juice, honey, and orange zest. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes. The cranberries will burst and the glaze will thicken. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  3. Prepare Turkey: Pat the turkey breast dry thoroughly with paper towels to ensure the herb rub adheres well.
  4. Make Herb Rub: In a small bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, thyme leaves, salt, and pepper to create a fragrant and flavorful herb mixture.
  5. Apply Herb Mixture: Carefully loosen the turkey skin and rub half of the herb mixture underneath it, ensuring the flavors penetrate the meat. Then, spread the remaining mixture evenly over the skin and inside the cavity for maximum flavor.
  6. Roast Turkey: Place the turkey breast skin-side up on a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part.
  7. Glaze Turquey: Starting 30 minutes before roasting is complete, brush the cranberry-orange glaze onto the turkey every 10 minutes to build a beautiful, sticky glaze.
  8. Rest and Serve: Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Then carve and serve the turkey with the remaining glaze or sides of your choice.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to check the turkey’s internal temperature for safe cooking.
  • The glaze can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator to save time.
  • For a deeper orange flavor, consider adding a splash of Grand Marnier or orange liqueur to the glaze.
  • Letting the turkey rest after roasting ensures juicy, tender slices.
  • This recipe pairs well with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh green salad.
